MSCI is an independent provider of financial data and investment decision support tools for institutional investors. We have deep expertise in the areas of risk and performance measurement that is based on more than 40 years of academic research, real-world experience and collaboration with our clients. Our products and services include the development and production of indices and analytical models, the provision of ratings and analysis that identify environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities and the analysis of real estate in both privately and publicly owned portfolios.
MSCI Budapest Office was established in 2008. Today we are proud to provide an inspiring working environment for nearly 430 highly trained professionals with an important role in the company’s core business. Some of our key areas are Financial Research, Data Services and Technology, IT, Corporate Finance and Sales Operations and Support. Our office is located in the Green House Office Building, settled on three floors, on more than 4,500 square meters. Besides the high-quality working environment, inspiring people, challenging global projects, MSCI Budapest has a lot to offer in entertainment and outside of work activities.
Our areas:
The Application Development team is responsible for both financial modeling engines and UI development of MSCI’s application offering e.g. RiskManager, BarraOne, Barra Portfolio Manager and the new Analytical Platform. The Budapest team is cross functional, taking part in developing almost all existing products. The technologies, languages and tools used include C++, Python, Scala, TeamCity and Jira. We have strong connections to other developer teams globally, from Mumbai to Berkeley.
The Index Performance IT team produces and distributes 10,000s of indeces globally, delivering the tangible products linked to MSCI’s most significant revenue source. We are IT folks at heart, leveraging our tools and knowledge to shape MSCI’s core business. We are present from California through Budapest to Hong Kong, cooperating closely with MSCI’s research, business and data organizations. We work with a JVMbased stack and a flexible approach to frameworks and libraries in an ever-changing technology landscape.
The Data Services and Technology (DST) team supports MSCI’s Analytics & Index solutions that offer investors an integrated view of risk and return for security analysis, portfolio optimization and stress testing. The Budapest team oversees the daily production of timely, complete, relevant and accurate data for market-leading analytics products such as BarraOne and RiskManager. The DST team also works with other cross-functional global teams to implement new data packages and research methodologies to construct various financial instruments. Our colleagues are part of a highly skilled and motivated team and their expertise combines finance, technology and data analysis. They develop, re-engineer and manage processes to support the daily data production covering multi asset class securities and benchmarks to satisfy the needs of a first-rate clientele.
The Analytical Quality Assurance (AQA) team works closely with the Research and Analytics Development teams to deliver innovative financial models to our clients across MSCI’s Analytics products. The team is exposed on a daily basis to analytics such as pricing and risk models for multi asset class securities, portfolio level risk analysis, VaR methodology, performance attribution and portfolio construction. The members of the Budapest team have opportunities to contribute to MSCI’s product delivery in a broad set of roles including validating model specifications, developing test plans and test cases, verifying formulas, implementing automated test tools and investigating client issues. Our colleagues are analytically and technically skilled professionals with a strong quantitative background. Their expertise combines advanced mathematical, programming and quantitative skills.
